What you’re working towards

A clean, hydrophobic finish without allowing wash solution or contamination to dry on the paint.

What you need

• Hermosa Ceramic Shampoo
• Wash bucket; a separate rinse bucket is recommended
• Clean wash mitt and detail brushes
• Hose or pressure washer used at a surface-safe distance
• Microfibre drying towel

Wash process

1. Cool the vehicle. Work out of direct sun and wait until paint, glass and wheels are cool.
2. Pre-rinse thoroughly. Remove as much loose grit and road film as possible before touching the paint.
3. Mix the shampoo. For bucket washing use 1:100: 50 ml in 5 litres of water. Foam-cannon output varies; start with the product guidance and adjust only for the equipment flow rate.
4. Wash from cleaner areas to dirtier areas. Use straight, light passes and rinse the mitt frequently. Keep wheel tools separate from paint tools.
5. Rinse before solution dries. Complete manageable sections and never allow shampoo to dry on the surface.
6. Dry safely. Use a clean microfibre drying towel with minimal pressure.

When to pause

If the surface becomes warm, the solution starts drying, or the mitt is visibly contaminated, stop, rinse and reset before continuing.

Common mistakes

• Washing hot paint
• Skipping the pre-rinse
• Using one dirty bucket or wheel tools on paint
• Letting solution air-dry
• Scrubbing instead of allowing lubrication and rinsing to work

Check the surface before you start

Identify the material and the problem you want to treat. Previous coatings, repairs, damage, temperature and application technique can all affect the result. Test a hidden area if you are unsure how the surface will respond.

Work on a cool surface, out of direct sun, in sections small enough to control. If a first pass does not give the result you expected, check the surface and your method before adding more product, increasing the concentration, rubbing harder or leaving it on longer.

Before you put the tools away

• Inspect the whole treated area in good light, from more than one angle. Check for an even finish and remove residue, overspray and excess product.
• Check visibility and grip wherever the treated surface could affect driving. Resolve any issue before using the car.
• Keep tools for wheels, paint, glass and interiors separate. Clean them after use and discard contaminated consumables.
• Follow the drying, curing and washing restrictions on the label and in the steps above.
• For an unusual material, note what you used and how it responded. It will help next time.
